Dallas Lutheran beat Austin Veritas 54-48 on Thursday to claim the TAPPS Six-man Division I state championship at Panther Stadium in Waco.
Lutheran, which finished the season 13-1, trailed 28-26 at halftime before surging ahead in the third.
Joseph Nash scored on a 12-yard reception with 2:52 left in the game to put the Lions up 54-40. Veritas (9-4) scored on its next possession, but Lutheran recovered the onside kick, drove down the field and ran out the clock to secure the victory.
