McKinney North had one of the best openers of any team: it opened the season with a 31-13 win over crosstown rival McKinney and did so in McKinney ISD's new 12,000-seat stadium, with a price tag of $69.9 million.

"If you can't get excited to play football in there you're not breathing," McKinney North coach Mike Fecci said.

But it also a big week of pomp and circumstance for the McKinney ISD and that provided some added stress for coaches. It might've played a factor on Friday, when McKinney Boyd didn't fair well on Friday against Rowlett, losing 45-21.

McKinney North will return to McKinney ISD stadium next week to face Justin Northwest. That game week will be a little calmer for Fecci.

"It was a fun week for our kids," Fecci said. "One that I'm glad is over."
