Waxahachie and Prosper were two of the big risers in this week's Class 6A area rankings, as both moved up two spots after staying unbeaten in district play. Waxahachie swept DeSoto and Mansfield to improve to 6-0 in District 7-6A, while Prosper is 5-0 in District 9-6A after wins over Plano West (ranked No. 12 in the state) and Allen.
Frisco Reedy and Frisco Liberty are tied for first in District 9-5A, with each team improving to 9-1 with a big win Tuesday. Reedy, ranked No. 2 in the area, swept then-No. 7 Frisco Lebanon Trail in three sets. Then-No. 4 Liberty beat then-No. 3 Wakeland in five sets, resulting in Liberty jumping into the No. 3 spot in this week's area rankings.
Grapevine joined SportsDay's 5A-others rankings, vaulting all the way to No. 6. That was a result of Tuesday's 25-21, 25-19, 25-22 win over Birdville, which was No. 5 in the area at the time.
