FLOWER MOUND -- Reid Touchstone's 26-yard touchdown catch on fourth down was the only score of the fourth quarter as Flower Mound clinched a playoff berth and stayed in control of District 6-6A with a 38-35 win over Hebron on Friday night. The game featured six lead changes in the second half and neither team ever led by more than one score.
Touchstone finished with 128 yards receiving on seven catches with three scores. Flower Mound's victory overshadowed Trejan Bridges' four-touchdown performance -- two receiving and two rushing -- for Hebron (4-3, 2-2 District 6-6A). Bridges finished with 115 yards on the ground and 164 yards receiving on six catches. He also had an interception to halt a Jaguars drive at the 1-yard line.
The teams were tied 14-14 at halftime, but the third quarter got explosive. Bridges opened the second half by bolting 68 yards on the first snap to give Hebron a 21-14 lead.
Touchstone's second touchdown catch of the night put Flower Mound (5-2, 4-0) ahead 24-21.
On Hebron's subsequent drive, quarterback Carson Harris left the field and Bridges went to work at quarterback, ultimately scoring on a 2-yard run.
Flower Mound continued the seesaw affair with a Blake Short touchdown pass to Reece Carter, but it was Bridges again from 83 yards on a two-play drive that restored Hebron's lead, 35-31, before Flower Mound marched on its game-winning drive. The Jaguars are the only team still undefeated in District 6-6A.
Short finished the game with 355 yards on 28-of-47 passing. Pierce Hudgens chipped in with 172 yards rushing on 29 carries for the Jaguars. Jack Welch also had a touchdown reception and 73 yards receiving. Flower Mound outgained Hebron 521-460 yards overall.
Harris threw for 224 yards, completing 14 of 26 attempts and a pair of scores.
