With the 2019 recruiting class signed, sealed and delivered, it's time to look at the best prospects in the area position by position in the 2020 class. Our series continues with linebackers.

Top of the class

Brennon Scott, Bishop Dunne
Scott is the best linebacker recruit in the area, and it isn't very close. An elite level recruit, Scott played a huge role for a Bishop Dunne defense that was lights out en route to the team's title run. Scott has the size and athleticism to play multiple linebacker spots in various schemes. He holds offers from Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Texas and several other major programs.

Next in line

Jaqwondis Burns, Terrell
Burns is really starting to see his stock boom on the recruiting trail. There is a shortage at the linebacker position throughout the region, but Burns is certainly a diamond in the rough that can grow into an elite level prospect. He can rush the passer extremely well and isn't afraid to get physical. Arizona, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and others have offered.

Sleeper

Jaylan Ford, Frisco Lone Star
Ford should command plenty of attention this offseason. With college football quickly evolving, players that can be traditional linebackers and serve as an extra defensive back are highly coveted. And that's what Ford brings to the table. He would definitely excel in a pass happy conference like the Big 12. Toledo and Tulsa have offered.

Three to know

Cooper McDonald, Justin Northwest
McDonald is a big outside linebacker with room to add weight and potentially spin down. He holds a handful of FBS offers.

HS top 50 rank: Unranked

Toren Pittman, Frisco Lone Star
At 6-foot-4, 190 pounds, Pittman is one of the more intriguing prospects in the area. He can be a big safety or outside linebacker.

HS top 50 rank: Unranked

Jadyn Landrum, Arlington Bowie
Landrum is a hard hitting traditional inside linebacker that racked up more than 100 tackles a year ago. UAB offered early.
