Sachse gets a scare from Skyline

An undefeated team versus a .500 one usually is the recipe for a blowout. But Skyline, which finished the regular season 5-5, gave Sachse (now 11-0) a fight in their 6A Division I bi-district matchup. Skyline led 13-7 at the half before Sachse got things going. Christian Cole and Jalen Mayden had long TD runs in the third quarter and Mayden threw a 21-yard pass to Nate Shelton in the fourth as Sachse pulled away for a 34-13 win.

West Mesquite stuns state-ranked Texarkana Texas High

West Mesquite's Curtis Williams scored four touchdowns, including the game-winning touchdown on a 3-yard run late in the fourth quarter. West Mesquite's defense then kept Texarkana out of the end zone and forced a field goal that was no good. West Mesquite got out of Royse City with a 30-27 win.

Hebron wins wild one against Plano East

In one of the games that seemed almost like a 50-50 guess, Hebron won 40-35. It was a tremendous battle of two outstanding quarterbacks. Plano East's Miklo Smalls threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns. Hebron's Clayton Tune threw for 214 yards and four TDs and ran for 139 yards and a score.

Eno (period, dramatic pause) Benjamin.

The Wylie East QB/RB hybrid had a monster game Friday for the Raiders, rushing for 254 yards and four TDs -- in the first half. The senior also threw a TD pass before halftime as Wylie East put up 49 on Marshall before halftime. Wylie East (8-3) ended up winning 69-35 and Benjamin's final rushing numbers were 28 carries for 354 yards and five TDs.

Frisco Lone Star's dynamic duo

Lone Star, last year's 5A Division II state runner-up, took care of business in a 48-9 win over Little Elm. Leading the way for Lone Star (10-1) was QB Jason Shelley and WR Jaylen Dixon, the pair of seniors who are orally committed to Utah. Shelley threw three TD passes and ran for three scores. Dixon caught six passes -- two of them for touchdowns.
