Dwight Weaver has been named the new athletic director for Duncanville ISD, the school district's chief communications officer, Tiara Richard, confirmed in an email Sunday night.
Weaver has been the principal at the Summit Education Center, an alternative school in Duncanville ISD. Weaver replaces Clint Harper, who is still an employee of the district, Richard said.
Harper was hired as Duncanville ISD's athletic director in February 2017 after serving as head football coach and athletic director at Marshall. Harper was replaced at Marshall by Claude Mathis, who recently left there to return to DeSoto as their football coach.
Weaver will be in charge of one of the most successful athletic programs in the state. Duncanville's football team was the Class 6A Division I state runner-up this season, the boys basketball team is ranked No. 1 in the state and the girls basketball team won four state championships in six years from 2012 to 2017.
