Frisco Liberty's Randi Thompson

What she did: Frisco Liberty's season was on the brink of ending in the 5A region II final. Then Randi Thompson hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to force overtime. Thompson scored 13 of her game-high 20 points across the fourth quarter and overtime in a 43-39 win over Frisco Lone Star on Saturday to help Frisco Liberty advance to state.

Who is she? Thompson is a 5-10 senior forward and is committed to North Texas.

The stats: Thompson averaged 17.3 points in three wins throughout the week. She scored 22 points against Frisco Centennial on Tuesday, her highest scoring output of the week.

What she said: "I knew that was my shot. That shot was just made for me," Thompson said. "My coach was just drawing up the play and I think it was supposed to be for another one of my teammates because he knew that they were going to draw attention to me, but it ended up getting in my hands and I just had to let it fly."

Coach said it: "That's an innate ability that she has. She's always been a big-timer ever since she was a freshman," Head coach Ross Reedy said. "Every big moment, she answered the bell every single time."

Did you know? Thompson initially thought her overtime-forcing 3-pointer at the end of regulation was a game-winner. She was mobbed by her teammates after hitting the shot and Thompson thought she won the game.

"I was a little excited," Thompson said. "I knew were down three, I knew the situation and everything, but I just needed a moment."
